Garcetti jokes that HuffPost should buy the LA Times

He sat down yesterday with host Jacob Soboroff in the Beverly Hills studio of HuffPost Live to talk about being mayor, what intelligence he has access to as both a mayor and a Navy Reserve intelligence officer, and issues such as the Snowden disclosures. Asked if he has an opinion on the rumor about the Koch brothers possibly wanting to buy the Los Angeles Times (which would not be good for this mayor...), Garcetti took the always-safe route and quipped that he would prefer local ownership. Then he got a little twinkle in his eye and added that the Huffington Post should buy the Times. The site is playing it straight in its coverage today, though Arianna Huffington played along in a tweet:



Garcetti came out in favor of the ride services like Uber and Lyft that the taxi industry doesn't like. Here's the video of the whole interview:
