Buggy Whip Steak House in Westchester: closed

buggy-whip-closed.jpg

The Buggy Whip fan page on Facebook says the La Tijera Boulevard standby closed for good around the end of September. "This great establishment has lasted since 1949 as an iconic traditional steak house. We attempted to preserve this amazing establishment over the 16 months; however, it was not easy....The mystique of traditional steak houses are now to the wind." Hat tip to Vintage LA on Facebook. Restaurant website.

Also, I just noticed today that the Norm's coffee shop in Santa Monica has closed. At Colorado and Lincoln since 1949, this location for Norm's shut the doors in July to make way for mixed-use housing.
