In the Santa Monica beach tent on Saturday, '12 Years a Slave' fashioned a near sweep of top honors at the Film Independent Spirit Awards: Best feature, director Steve McQueen, supporting actress Lupita Nyong'o, cinematographer Sean Bobbitt and screenwriter John Ridley. Chiwetel Ejiofor lost out to Matthew McConaughey of "Dallas Buyers Club" for lead actor, and Cate Blanchett won lead actress for "Blue Jasmine." The supporting actor award went to "Dallas Buyers Club" costar Jared Leto. If you're predicting the Oscars, note that neither "Gravity" nor "American Hustle" were up for the Spirit awards.

"Twenty Feet From Stardom" won best documentary and "Blue Is The Warmest Color" won for best international film.
