Matt Kemp activated for Dodger Stadium opener, takes Puig's spot*

* Updated post with new Dodgers news.

matt-kemp-crop.jpgThe Dodgers open their home season this afternoon against the Giants, and they will have Matt Kemp on the roster. He wasn't going to be in the starting lineup, but Yasiel Puig was late arriving to the park so manager Don Mattingly benched him and inserted Kemp in the lineup. The often-injured Kemp will try this season to recover his status as a superstar. He played in only 73 games last year and hit just six home runs, and was hurt for most of this year's spring training. With outfielders Yasiel Puig, Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford all having something lacking in their offensive game, the Dodgers hope that Kemp can come back and re-emerge as the best of the starting outfielders.
