Mayor Garcetti's new communications director is Naomi Seligman

naomi-seligman-fb.jpgMayor Eric Garcetti has hired his successor to Yusef Robb as communications director. Naomi Seligman runs her own consulting firm in Santa Monica with clients such as the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy. She has extensive Washington and Hollywood experience, on the liberal side. Here's a grab from her website.

Naomi created and led a national advocacy and entertainment campaign for ‘INOCENTE,’ the 2013 Oscar winner for Best Documentary Short at the Academy Awards. She has worked with the Global Survivors Network, on publicizing the 2011 Oscar-nominated short documentary ‘Killing in the Name,’ and with Oscar-nominated producer Marc Smolowitz on the award-winning documentary ‘The Power of Two.’

In her political work, she has helped end the careers of some of the most corrupt members of Congress, targeted the NRA and its allies, exposed front groups covering for corporate interests, and rooted out misinformation in the media.

Naomi currently leads The Gun Truth Project, a gun lobby watchdog organization.

Naomi built and directed communications operations for Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington and Media Matters and was the media force behind the defense of outed undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson and her husband, Ambassador Joseph Wilson.

She has worked with actors from Kim Cattrall to Ellen Page to John Leguizamo to advance their advocacy efforts and launched the ‘Rebuild The Dream’ Campaign Tour with Van Jones and Shepard Fairey.

Gene Maddaus at the LA Weekly says that Seligman moved to LA in 2009 to work for Consumer Watchdog and launched her own consulting practice in 2012.
