LAPD cops shoot another unarmed man, this time in Los Feliz (video)

lapd-shooting-los-feliz.jpgThe latest incident of LAPD officers shooting unarmed people occurred along Los Feliz Boulevard near Griffith Park on Friday afternoon. Accounts seem to agree that the man hailed a passing police car and approached with his extended arm wrapped in a towel. For unknown reasons an officer jumped out of the car and yelled at the man to drop the gun, and at least one officer shot the man. No gun or any other weapon was found, so we can't really call the man a suspect. At this point he's just a guy who approached an LAPD car and got shot, but something had to put the officers into defensive mode.

The victim was taken to a hospital and remains alive in critical condition. The controversy this time includes what happened after the shooting. As the wounded man lay in the parkway with blood streaming from a head wound, he was turned over by the officers and handcuffed. That's in keeping with LAPD procedure, according to spokesman Lt. Andy Smith. A passing motorist posted a video of the cuffing, with accompanying description of the graphic scene:

Here it is on YouTube.

It appears that the victim and the cops are all white this time. LAPD officials said they are investigating.
