Youth must be served

Last week we used a submission from London-based Maria Paola Chironi, who became our most far-flung co-winner and first overseas contributor.

This week’s winning pages break ground in a different way. They were written by our youngest participant so far, a boy not yet in his teens who exhibits a flair for dialog and a jaded humor that belies his youth.

I’ll add his pages to our script tomorrow night and introduce you to our new wunderkind here at Script Notes on Wednesday. So agents, stand by your Blackberries. This kid’s got at least another full decade before he’s over the hill.

And speaking of emerging young talent, my son is finishing up his junior year in high school and is about to embark on a college fact-finding tour of the state, escorted by his mother and me. I’ll be taking a week off here and will not be blogging, reading or judging anything other than campus sales pitches between March 22-28.

That means you have two whole weeks to catch up on the script-in-progress (if you’re not up already) and to write our next few pages. This time, no excuses.

Unless you’re too old for it.
