Roundup of new L.A.-centric books

David L. Ulin writes in the LAT about "Southland" by Nina Revoyr and "Fear Itself," Walter Mosley's second Fearless Jones novel. April Smith (North of Montana) is also back with "Good Morning, Killer," while the new non-fiction includes "Homicide Special: On the Streets With the LAPD's Elite Detective Unit" by former Times reporter Miles Corwin. He is the writer who rode along with the detectives who questioned Robert Blake and got dragged into the court case by Blake's attorneys. Ulin knows his L.A. books: he edited "Another City: Writing From Los Angeles" and "Writing Los Angeles: A Literary Anthology."
