That's because Chris Weinkopf, the paper's editorial writer, used to hang out with John Noster, the Valley man who the feds say was on a path to become the next Timoth McVeigh. "I nearly inhaled my copy of the Daily News last Thursday morning, so deep was my gasp upon seeing John's face on the front page," Weinkopf writes in the paper. "It was the same John Noster I met through my church's beach-volleyball club. The same John Noster whom I watched football games with most every Sunday morning in the fall of 1998, often in my apartment."
