Today on Larry Mantle, Warren Olney and L&T

This morning on Airtalk with Larry Mantle, Larry plans to discuss the anti-lap dance ordinance that's before the L.A. city council and talk with Michael Lewis about his new baseball book, Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game. (KPCC, 89.3 FM, 9-11 a.m.) Which Way, L.A.? with Warren Olney tonight has up a look at the rivalry over Spanish-language broadcast stations in Los Angeles. (KCRW, 89.9 FM, 7-7:30 p.m.) On the schedule at Life & Times is a feature on local Gabrielinos who are building an authentic canoe like those their ancestors paddled to settle the Channel Islands. (KCET, channel 28, 7 and 11 p.m. )

Trust KCET to be hot on the trail of a completely inconsequential story. Why is KCET even in business? It has no national string, unlike the Boston PBS, and the local stuff it does manage to get on the air, with the sole exception of Huell, is like public-access TV, without the spark.

This anti lap dancing thing is BS. Not that I've ever had a lap dance, or even wanted one, but it's just another way for the council to penalize business owners. This is bad for the newspapers (who get a ton of strip club ads), beverage suppliers, and thong-makers, not to mention strip clubs. What a sham.
