Law professor Eugene Volokh uses the web traffic stats compiled by The Truth Laid Bear to argue that there is no solid evidence the blogosphere slants to the right politically. He acknowledges flaws in the data, but doesn't mention a big one -- Bear's stats only look at sites monitored by the SiteMeter service.

The rankings are interesting though. Instapundit is #1 by this count, with 88,612 daily visits. Daily Kos is #2 and Atrios is #3. It's nice to see that on a couple of days last week little ol' L.A. Observed would have placed in the mid 20s on 3900+ visits (and 14,000+ hits). For what it's worth, this month LAO will surpass a million hits since the launch in late May. As a daily average, hits are up 81% since September and visits 61% -- more on weekdays. I expect both stats to settle down over the slow holidays, but to my surprise there were 3,000+ hits even on Thanksgiving Day. Thanks everybody, and watch for improvements in the new year.
