I got to meet Scott Schmidt a couple of times in high school (as I was classmates with his son, John). He was a good guy and really changed the face of the Van Nuys News (as it was called when I delivered it four days a week) into the Daily News giving the Valley a real voice.

His passing is a real loss for the Valley! RIP!!!
