When I noticed last night that the #3 Internet search term (after "Paul Magers" and "Gretchen Carr") that lands the unsuspecting here is "Giuliana Depandi," it seemed time to check in on the svelte E! Channel personality formerly known as just Giuliana. First, I discover she is no longer the co-host of E! News Live, and that she and Patrick Stinson have returned to the correspondent ranks. The latest replacements for (the seemingly irreplaceable) Jules Asner and Steve Kmetko are John Burke and Alisha Davis.
And, voila, Depandi shows up in an item in today's Washington Post "Names and Faces" column about her fiance, actor Jerry O'Connell, and his commercials for a store in suburban Maryland.
What is hunky actor Jerry O'Connell doing in a commercial for a White Flint Mall tailor shop? Answer: The owner is Eduardo DePandi, O'Connell's future father-in-law, and maybe it's one way to win him over. O'Connell, who appeared in movies such as "Scream II" and "Jerry Maguire," is engaged to "E! News Live" correspondent Giuliana DePandi, who when not reporting on celebs helps promote her father's store, which is named Bruno Cipriani.
I also learned a humbling fact: of the search terms that lure people here, "la observed" ranks (cough) 8th. The top 10, top to bottom:
paul magers
gretchen carr
giuliana depandi
paul magers kcbs
paul magers los angeles
charlie leduff
langer's deli
la observed
girl fights
ksur radio
Girl fights? I had to do my own search to see what that hits on...it's this posting on Hilary E. MacGregor's LAT story last September about a staged fight downtown. [Lessons learned: do more Paul Magers items (and don't forget Gretchen Carr).]
Kevin:
As per your parenthetical comment at the very end ... Gretchen Carr is number 2. She might want to bring that to the attention of the KCBS bosses who recently let her go ...

Posted by: Brian at January 30, 2004 09:48 AMThat is really weird. This is the first time I have ever heard of Magers, Carr and Depandim and I have been visiting this site for a couple of years. I think the answer is to write more stories about LA Observed...
