Mystery solved

Mystery photoLast week, the Downtown News asked for help identifying this photo of old downtown L.A. It was found in a city office mismarked "7th and Broadway" from 1908, when it was clearly taken elsewhere and later. Today's issue updates that several history-savvy readers traced the scene to 3rd Street and Broadway, circa 1925 or 6. A before and after shot is included.

The main building on the left, constructed in 1895, contains the Giant Penny store today. A small piece of the Bradbury Building is visible on the right.
