Elizabeth Guider has been named deputy editor of Variety and Daily Variety and Timothy M. Gray has been named executive editor. From the published story:

Guider, who grew up in the Deep South, joined Variety in 1983 in the Rome bureau. She served in London from 1986 to 1990 and then covered television in New York. In 1999 she was named executive editor, with responsibilities for Variety, Daily Variety and Daily Variety Gotham. She also had specific oversight of foreign coverage. She writes an occasional column for weekly Variety called Voiceover.

Guider, who holds a Ph.D. in Renaissance studies from New York U., is married to Walter Collins and lives in Studio City.

Gray has held a number of positions at the paper, most recently as managing editor. He works on Variety, Daily Variety and Daily Variety Gotham; among his contributions are some of the papers' more shameless headlines.

Aside from editorial duties, he writes the Reel Life column and covers such events as the Academy Awards and the Cannes Film Festival.

Also, Kirstin Wilder and Jonathan Bing are new deputy managing editors. She is the former Kirstin Swanson and handles long-term planning for coverage of the Cannes Film Festival, the Oscars and the Emmys. Bing "will oversee Daily Variety's Perspectives page, weekly Variety's book and DVD reviews, and select features in both papers."
