Distinction needs an editor (again) *

Laurie Pike at LA.com is on a roll today [not so fast...see below *], blogging that her old job as editor of Distinction magazine has gone vacant again. She reports that acting editor Gary Walther is leaving for a job in New York and that Holly Palance seems to be next in line for the (apparently thankless) post. Palance is executive editor of Santa Barbara magazine and, I assume, the former Buzz columnist, actress and daughter of Jack Palance. Pike says that Distinction's freelance staffers were told today they would have to reapply for their positions. (It was Pike who posted earlier on the departure of Heather John.)

* Or not: LA.com has yanked the blog post mentioning Walther and Palance. Asked by email to explain, Pike was direct: "No comment."

Yes, editor/Buzz columnist/actress and daughter Holly are all the same Palance.

My understanding was that Holly owns a big chunk of SB Magazine. I wonder why she'd want to leave that for a place like Distinction? Maybe what I heard was wrong.

Was this post removed? I can't find it anymore.

Hmm, it does indeed seem to be missing from LA.com's archive. Ms. Pike has been queried via email.

Good luck getting a response if...

What an absurd joke. No reason to list events like Blondie -- one of many touring seminal bands well past her "interest" -- playing at the House of Blues on the front page, then. Gen Y (and la.com) is so confused.
