Avalon owner Steve Adelman claims in a Page Six item today that Vanity Fair writer George Wayne demanded two free first-class tickets between New York and Los Angeles in exchange for mentioning Adelman in a story about nightclub bosses. A magazine spokeswoman says they're looking into it.
What the hell is a fair-class ticket? You get to sit in Graydon Carter's lap the whole way?

Posted by: Tiffany at April 22, 2004 06:29 PMOne does not expect Vanity Fair to write advertorial, a la Distinction. As for Adelman (who I wrote about years ago), he's what my mother would call a pyoik; I can easily see him bending a situation to get his name in print.

Maybe Wayne spells the magazine 'Vanity Fare.'
