New on the literary scene

As Spoken Interludes closes in on its final event in Los Angeles, June 6 at the Skirball Cultural Center, a couple of new online literary venues have launched. Fresh Yarn, "the Online Salon for personal essays," says it will post new material twice a month. Created by Hillary Carlip, the contributors so far have included Kathy Najimy, Taylor Negron, Beth Lapides and Francesca Lia Block.

Also, Tallfellow Press has begun a blog that is billed as carrying news of the publishing business from a small independent L.A. publisher. Kristen Havens of Tallfellow has her own blog where she is composing a poem about life in L.A., one stanza at a time.
