Sean, Viggo and Sofia get the call

This year the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is publicizing the names of actors, directors, writers and others who have been invited to join up and become Oscars voters. The new pledges include Sean Penn, Viggo Mortensen, Sofia Coppola, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Patricia Clarkson, Hope Davis, Treat Williams and Scarlett Johansson. Prez Frank Pierson swears the list of 127 invitees is shorter and more exclusive than in previous years. (Via Defamer)

How has Sean Penn not been allowed Academy voting privileges until now? The guy's been maybe the greatest actor of his generation for what, 15 years? That's gotta be a mistake.

Would seem to be a story there, eh? Maybe he turns them down every year.

Kevin doesn't care. As long as he can pimp another link to his anonymous friend at Defamer.

This is a numbers game for him.

Allen, if you can do better, start your own damned blog. Otherwise, shut up.

"Pledge Penn, your AMPAS name is Pinto. Pledge Coppola, your AMPAS name is Weasel. Pledge Mortensen, we've given this a lot of thought. Your AMPAS name is...Flounder."

How does Roderick benefit by linking to Defamer? Numbers game? Ridiculous.
