Reason's convention blogger Matt Welch catches up with former California AG Dan Lungren and, in a Madison Square Garden stairway, with Pat Buchanan. An excerpt of his encounter with the latter:

Buchanan: It's a perfect convention. I'll be honest, I did not hear the First Lady, but they were really helped by the (chuckles) McCain versus Michael Moore contrast. I think Karl Rove's sitting there, (bends knees, makes card-dealing motion, adopts a high-pitched attempt at a Texan accent) "you want some tickets here, Michael!" HAH-hah-huh-huh-huh!

Roger L. Simon writes of Schwarzenegger — "the first Republican I ever voted for" — "not as inspiring as I had hoped." Of the Bush twins, he blogs: "the less said about them the better." Marc Cooper also was not impressed by Jenna and Barbara, posting to the Weekly's blog "what can I say that you aren't already thinking....two obvious bimbos reading prepared material that emphasized their cluelessness. So far, the most unprofessional moment of the convention." Meanwhile, gay Reep BoifromTroy is having such a good time in the city he took most of the day off.
