Near-miss at LAX *

On Aug. 19, an Asiana Airlines jumbo jet arriving from Korea came within about 200 feet of an Albuquerque-bound Southwest flight on the same runway, the FAA confirmed Tuesday. How close is that? "Too damned close," a high-ranking agency official says. Controller error is blamed. It was the same runway where a similar mistake in 1991 led to a crash on the ground that killed 33 people.
