Ross Porter's end may be near *

KSPN-AM reports that the Dodgers could announce Ross Porter's disinvitation from the broadcast booth as early as Friday, the same day he begins co-hosting a sports talk show on the station (4 p.m., 710 AM). Sports by Brooks cites the station's David Vassegh saying the Dodgers are closing in on Angels announcer Jose Mota as Porter's replacement. Meanwhile, Porter will be honored by the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in January.

* Update: SBB has amended its item to say that Mota is reported to be the Dodgers' top choice, but softens the tie to Porter's fate. Also, Porter emails Dodger Thoughts tonight that he hasn't been told anything, adding "this has dragged on entirely too long, and we believe they will tell us what they are going to do very shortly."
