Was USC's win illegal?

I have no idea, but a new college football website in town says Matt Leinart's last-seconds touchdown dive to beat Notre Dame on Saturday should not have counted. The Wizard of Odds is by someone who says he (I'm assuming) used to work with me but is remaining anonymous. He reports that when the Trojans' Reggie Bush copped to pushing Leinart over the goal line, he admitted breaking an NCAA rule and the score should have been called back. The site is all about beating the spread, but so far the blogger is less than wizard-like: his betting record for the season is just 27-21-1.

Also in sports: The Dodgers fired PR chief John Olguin, a holdover from previous ownership, and named a new chief flack. Camille Johnston gets the title of senior vice president of communications. She has worked in the White House for Al Gore and Tipper Gore, on Democratic campaigns, and most recently was the spokeswoman for Rodale Inc. The Dodgers also discontinued the crisis services of Sitrick and Company's Kelly Mullins.

And: LAist sports editor Phil Wallace is leaving the site to take a job with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Alex Delanian takes over the sports posts.
