Xmas tree yes, menorah no *

Paseo Colorado in Pasadena has angered some local Jews by eliminating the shopping center's annual Hanukkah menorah display, calling it a religious symbol, while featuring a tall Christmas tree. In today's Pasadena Star-News story, a shopping center spokeswoman says the tree has no religious symbolism. But Rabbi Chaim Hanoka from Chabad of Pasadena says, "You can call it whatever you like, but just about anybody in the world calls it a Christmas tree."

* Menorah yes: I'm told the Star-News will be reporting that Paseo Colorado changed its mind this afternoon "upon further consideration." The menorah is welcome. 2:40 pm
