Kwan coming home

KwanMichelle Kwan woke up Sunday morning, realized that it's over at age 25, and announced her withdrawal from the Turin games. She fell in practice yesterday and tweaked her leg, adding a new injury to her already hurting body. Kwan is part owner of the East West Ice Palace in Artesia, where she trains. Two other local figure skaters, Rena Inoue and John Baldwin of Santa Monica, wowed the crowd Saturday with the first throw triple Axel in Olympic figure skating history. Kwan's early decision should give a spot to 16-year-old Emily Hughes.

Lots of face time on NBC Saturday night for the Times' Alan Abrahamson.
