I just caught up to the official KTLA blogs written by four of the station's top news anchors. In theory they represent an admirable step in connecting the talking heads to viewers, but the execution—well, not so much. Seems the commitment just isn't there, and they might consider just killing the whole idea. Here are verbatim excerpts from each anchor's most recent entries, and the number of days since they were posted:

Leila Feinstein (5 days): We're making the announcement tonight on Prime News, but I thought that I would let you, my faithful blog readers, hear it here first... I'm PREGNANT! My husband and I are both really excited. Our daughter Chaya is two years old and I always wanted to have kids that were about three years apart because my brothers and I are three years apart and we get along great. I have just completed my first trimester and am feeling sick less often...

Carlos Amezcua (35 days): Yes, my Grandfather Carlos Daniel Herrera invented the Margarita. I know, I know it's hard to believe and even Michaela doubts the truthfulness of this claim. Here's the story. In the 1940's, 50's and 60's my grandfather owned and operated the "La Gloria" resort located just south of Tijuana in Baja California, Mexico. It was a popular hangout for Hollywood movie stars. Elizabeth Taylor, Phil Harris and his wife Alice Faye, Mickey Rooney, Clark Gable, Walt Disney all hung out there. The hotel part was quaint and very upscale. The bar was monstrous and a Baja legend. My grandpa was the head bartender and one day he mixed up some drinks for a couple of celebrities one of them being an actress named Marjorie King. Marjorie could not drink Tequila straight so he created a blended drink that was smoother. He named the drink after Marjorie and called it "Margarita"....On another subject, my favorite band "Chicago" is about to release a brand new album...

After the jump: Fascination with Michaela's hair, and Hal's caps lock key gets stuck.

Michaela Pereira (10 days): WARNING: This blog contains girl information! HAIR HAIR HAIR...ok so I get on average about 10 emails a week about my hair. I know that there are far more pressing issues in our world at any given moment. But this is one issue where I can affect change. So let's just go there for a minute, shall we? This blog isn't for everyone - but I did want to address the many queries I get about this. Indulge me, ok?...

Hal Fishman (40 days ago): A WORD TONIGHT ABOUT... BRITNEY SPEARS. LAST NIGHT, TV NEWS PROGRAMS, AND LATE NIGHT TALK SHOWS, SKEWERED MS. SPEARS FOR A PICTURE OF HER DRIVING HER SUV WITH HER 4 MONTH OLD SON ON HER LAP. NOW, I'M NOT SUGGESTING THIS IS A GOOD AND SAFE PRACTICE. BUT, THIS WAS ONE STILL PICTURE. SHE SAID SHE WAS TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM THE PAPARAZZI BECAUSE OF A HORRIFYING, FRIGHTFUL ENCOUNTER. THE PICTURE-TAKERS DENIED THIS CHARGE AND SAID ALL WAS PEACE AND TRANQUILLITY. SELF-APPOINTED SEAT BELT INSPECTORS ARE CLAIMING SHE SHOULD BE TICKETED AND CHARGED WITH CHILD ENDANGERMENT, AND THE FACT SHE'S STILL FREE IS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW CELEBRITIES CAN GET AWAY WITH LAW-BREAKING. THIS WAS ONE STILL PICTURE. WE DON'T KNOW ALL THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING THE INCIDENT...

Meanwhile at Channel 2, the ten blogs of Shocknek and company are pretty current.
