Eerily well-hyped

DemmeBoth the Sunday New York Times and the current LA Weekly devote column inches to understanding the phenomenon that is (or at least was, until recently) Amanda Scheer-Demme. They might just have checked out her IMDb profile at IMDb, which calls Demme "an eerily well-rounded person" and "one of the very rare few that can be called an artist, entrepreneur, trendsetter, tastemaker, star maker and connoisseur without a trace of irony or hype. It's just the truth."

It (or is that she?) goes on:

She has blazed trails in so many areas of the world of popular entertainment that it would be both a shame and inaccurate to tie her to a single field. This is why she needed a new phrase to describe what she does; she's a "Lifestyle Producer."

In order to give some idea of the impact she has had on pop culture, one has to list the different industries she is accomplished in and has become renowned in.

- In the field of Music Supervision Amanda has Music Supervised and consulted for 30 film and television productions in less than a decade. (Garden State, Mean Girls, Blow, Out of Sight - see full list below)

- In the field of Artist Development she has helped launch successful labels like Immortal Records and Ventrue Records through her affiliation with Rick Rubin's American Recordings and through Virgin Records. Through these labels and her management companies, like Buzztone, she has incubated the careers of multi-platinum artists like Cypress Hill, House of Pain, and Korn, Rakim, Incubus, Nikka Costa, Mark Ronson, Duncan Sheik and DJ AM. She also executive produced several motion picture soundtracks on the labels she founded.

- In the field of Branding and Marketing, Amanda helped redefine how event production and promotion could impact the success of new CD, DVD, Game, Magazine, and branded product releases, as well as sponsored theme events for networks like MTV, magazines like Vanity Fair, Stuff, Maxim, and GQ, and other corporations like Vitamin Water, etc., with her former partner Bolthouse Productions.

- In the field of Nightlife Entertainment she has launched hugely successful and seminally influential clubs and parties like NY's cradle of hip-hop, "Carwash," and in LA "Lava Caro" at Guatelinda's, Tuesday nights at Monroe's, the legendary, annual industry inner-circle Oscar party and the infamous Monday night parties at The Argyle.

As a `trend-seer' Amanda has an impeccable read on the current attitude of popular culture, and an unerring sense of where it's heading. As a trend-setter she has shown time and again that this intuitive grasp of `what's coming next' can be brought to fruition in both creatively and commercially viable ways. As an entrepreneur she has proven that she has the vision and capacity to guide and profit from the commercial exploitation of these trends as she shepherds them into popularity.
