Local Muslims protest Villaraigosa

Leaders of the Islamic Center, the Shura Council and other local groups are unhappy that Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa joined in a pro-Israel rally on the Westside July 23. They held a press conference outside City Hall today. Via City News Service: "Mr. Mayor, the city of Los Angeles has three other sides to it, the east, the north and the south, and we call upon you to be inclusive in every sense of the word," said Shakeel Syed, executive director of the Shura Council of Southern California. Funny, the CBS 2 web story is credited to CBS and Associated Press (and even copyrighted by CBS), but it is identical to the story City News Service moved on its wire — minus the byline of CNS reporter Art Marroquin.
