New L.A. blogger for pay

ShelaskyAlyssa Shelasky will be posting about her L.A. dating life for Glamour magazine's new website — with a little twist. Apparently, she will ask readers for love advice then put it into practice. Today's dilemma du jour is that her ex-lover from New York — a dentist she fell for even before he fondled her teeth in the chair — wants to come spend Labor Day with her. Shelasky is 29 and a former Us Weekly nightlife reporter. Gawker runs a poll of its own to come up with helpful advice for Shelasky (snicker.)

I left New York three months ago to escape a future-less relationship with a guy who couldn’t commit (I know, shocker). I am still madly in love with him, some might even say addicted to him, yet forbidden to even say his name to friends and family who know it will only cause more heartache....

I followed my heart and fled to Los Angeles for a fresh start. I’ve done pretty well for myself: I now have 5 gorgeous gay best friends, a few girlfriends who love to go out and four dateable boys. It’s not easy being the new girl in a city not exactly known for it’s heart and soul. I miss my family who, in touchy-feely California terms, are “my safe place” and my friends, who always got me.
