Attorney General dings Munitz and Getty

State AG Bill Lockyer's investigation of the Getty is out today and concludes Barry Munitz "violated his legal duty when he used Trust employees to run his personal errands" and that Getty trustees "improperly allowed use of charitable funds to pay the travel expenses of Munitz’ wife and buy gifts of artwork for retiring board members." Despite violations of law, there will be no prosecution — the AG's office cited the deal where Munitz surrendered his severance package and repaid $250,000 as sufficient sanction. But former AG John Van de Kamp was installed as an independent monitor of the Getty Trust for two years. Tyler Green has been following the Getty mess at Modern Art Notes and dissects the report.
