In order to shoot scenes for Live Free or Die Hard with Bruce Willis, 20th Century Fox wants to close Imperial Highway beside LAX — and some lanes of the 105 freeway above the street — for ten days starting later this month. Even though the shooting is planned for weekends, businesses at the airport and LAX itself are a tad upset.

"The studio's proposal to close both directions of Imperial Highway from Nash Street to Aviation Boulevard would have significant impacts on LAX passengers, workers and air cargo businesses operating on the airport adjacent to Imperial Highway," Samson Mengistu, assistant executive director of the city agency that operates LAX, wrote to Steve MacDonald, president of Film L.A.

The studio says that stretch of Imperial Highway, where it runs under the freeway in El Segundo, is the perfect spot for the fourth installment of the "Die Hard" series. The freeway needs to be shut to prevent looky-loos, they argue. The director of the state film commission predicts a compromise will be reached. Times, Daily Breeze.
