Susan, is that you? (* updated)

Book coverWhy yes, it is. On the cover of her new book, Democratic campaign steerer-turned-columnist and USC law professor Susan Estrich strikes an Ann Coulter pose. The pic, in fact, mimics the cover of Coulter's book-length rant against the left she imagines exists, Godless: the Church of Liberalism. That's because Estrich's new book is Soulless: Ann Coulter and the Right-Wing Church of Hate. From the flackage: "Soulless also casts a light on 'the Anns,' wannabes like Michelle Malkin and Glenn Beck, whose imitation Coulterisms coarsen our culture with every passing news cycle." Due out from Regan Books next week.

* On theme: Estrich emails that new Times publisher David Hiller was a close friend in law school — he was editor of the Harvard Law Review — and "he was a terrific guy then." Maybe she will like the Times op-ed page more than she did under Michael Kinsley's reign. Also, FishbowlLA follows up on the book.
