Elizabeth Stromme, writer and 'Underground Gardener'

Stromme died yesterday of cancer at the age of 59. She wrote the Echo Park novel Joe's Word and the Underground Gardener column for the old L.A. Alternative Press. Just last month, her novel Plunder in the Grass: A Botanical Garden at Work was optioned by filmmakers Scott McGehee and David Siegel. Here is her website. Her friend Matt Welch has a nice tribute up at his blog, and Emmanuelle Richard offers memories in French. Stromme's writing had an audience in France.
