Active members of homeowner and residents' group live in a world of acronyms and nettlesome neighborhood issues. In their honor, here's the Christmas carol that was sung at the holiday party of the Country Club Park Neighborhood Association. I'll give you just the final stanza. You know the tune.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:

12 trees a-swaying
11 speed bumps slowing
10 neighbors waving
9 houses selling
8 dogs not barking
7 cars not parking
6 cops patrolling

5 quiet helicopters
4 filming shows
3 Starbucks
2 Trader Joe's
And a finalized HPOZ!

Country Club Park is the area "from Western to Crenshaw...Olympic to Pico" and so-named because the early 20th century development was adjacent to the Los Angeles Country Club. For those who stay away from city issues, HPOZ stands for Historic Preservation Overlay Zone.

Turns out: People know the tune but not the words, as Darleene Powells at CBS2 found out.
