Denny Doherty, Papa was 66

Mamas and PapasDoherty (next to Mama Cass at this 1966 performance in L.A.) was one quarter of the 1960s hitmakers the Mamas and Papas. His death today of kidney disease near Toronto leaves only Michelle Phillips alive. The group is strongly connected with California, especially the Laurel Canyon and Sunset Strip rock scene, but Doherty was from Canada. He leaves three children.
