Dropping trou for the Trojans *

Mickey Meyer, the goalie for the USC ice hockey team, was ejected from a weekend game against Brigham Young — and ticketed for lewdness by the North Logan, Utah police — after he mocked the referees during a stoppage in play. What did he allegedly do? "Meyer rode his stick like a horse, dropped his bulky pants, mooned the crowd and slapped his buttocks during a game against Brigham Young University, police said....The junior from Clinton, N.Y., was 'riding his hockey stick like a horse and slapping his butt,' North Park Officer Mike Stauffer said in a report." Nothing yet at the Daily Trojan or the official USC athletics site. AP via ESPN.com

* Official response: While pointing out that ice hockey is a club sport and not affiliated with the USC athletic program, VP for student affairs Michael L. Jackson nonetheless regrets the incident: "I am very upset to hear that a student member of our hockey team participating in a national tournament in North Logan, Utah behaved in such a reprehensible manner. The university does not condone this behavior. We are investigating the matter and will take appropriate action against those involved. On behalf of the university, I apologize to the hockey fans attending the game where the incident occurred and to Brigham Young University." 5:10 pm
