Paris and Elliot call it quits *

Although Paris Hilton might be going to jail, Elliot Mintz is now a free man. He announced last night that he has resigned as the tabloid fodder's harried mouthpiece. He also apologized to Hilton for his advice that she could keep driving in spite of a suspended license.

Also: Judge Michael T. Sauer, who sentenced Hilton to the pokey, received a standing ovation Sunday at his church, according to TMZ. Courthouse officials think the tale is, shall we say, apocryphal.

* Or not: E Online's Marc Malkin says Mintz's commitment to his separation from Paris is wavering.
