Corina files for divorce

Corina Villaraigosa, the mayor's estranged wife, cites irreconcilable differences in her court filing. She seeks spousal support and primary custody of Natalia, the couple's fourteen-year-old daughter. Antonio Jr. is 18 and headed to Princeton in the fall.

Noted: Daily News writer Tony Castro, who has reported extensively on Villaraigosa, blogged about the separation:

It is news to only those who for the past several months have been unwilling to believe that the marriage not only was in trouble -- but that they had not been together for most of his time in office. Last September, Villaraigosa had even stopped wearing his wedding band, and the two had not been seen publicly since mid-2006.
