Observatory is drivable again

The parking ban and shuttle bus system at the renovated Griffith Observatory is history as of today. Although the mayor says 650,000 patrons have visited since the observatory reopened a year ago Friday, visitation has waned. So now you can once again drive up the hill and fight for one of the 200 parking spots, and drop in to see the place without a reservation. There will be bus service from the Vermont Red Line station, but this is L.A. so it will only run on weekends and won't start until Nov. 24.
