The LA Sun/Star

After posting Wednesday's item about the newspaper that couldn't decide if it was the Los Angeles Sun or the Los Angeles Star, I heard from Editor in Chief Jeremy Meyer. He explained:

The current name of this venture is the Los Angeles Star. But when we first thought about starting a new weekly newspaper for the greater Los Angeles area we did not realize that the San Fernando Valley already had a Sun newspaper. So when we figured this out we had to quickly change the name and that is also why the ad on craigslist has two different names.

We thank you for informing us about this mistake and it has been corrected.

I would also like to thank you for wishing us good luck. The more support that a new weekly tabloid newspaper like the Star has the better.

I've since found a website (with a counter stuck at 155 hits) that explains, "The Los Angeles Star is a free weekly newspaper written and designed for young and ambitious professionals. It fits into a 20-minute read and gives Los Angeles residence [sic] all they need to know, weekly, in their morning commutes. Local, national and international news and colorful features are presented without any bias, with a proudly urban attitude and style." He's also looking for pictures of females: "Want to be a Star Girl? Send photo (preferably full length.)"
