A serial robbery suspect was killed in an early-morning gun battle on Sawtelle Avenue in West Los Angeles. The LAPD officer involved was not hurt.

* Not much of a battle: The suspect was armed only with a replica, which he apparently pointed at the officer driving an unmarked car. LAT
