Martha has met her match

L.A. author, humorist and kitschy snapshot collector Charles Phoenix will share his vintage Valentine's Day slides with Martha Stewart on her syndicated TV show on Thursday. I have no idea when she's on, so check your listings.

But before that: If Martha is low-brow entertainment, here's the high-brow. Dana Gioia, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, will speak to a Zócalo group Wednesday at 7:30 pm at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre. It's free, but reserve.
