From the South Bay Daily Breeze:

Correction about concert

I am grateful for the very kind words by letter writer Rosemarie Persek ("SP event was inspirational," March 17) regarding my performance as opening act for Paul Williams at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro, benefiting the House of Hope.

I am very supportive of the dedicated people involved in the recovery community and admire the courage it takes to deal with these challenges. But, just to set the record straight, I have never had addiction or sobriety issues.

Perhaps it was in the first verse of the "House of Hope" song I wrote, which gave that impression - where I indicated that we all have challenges.

HAROLD PAYNE
San Pedro

Editor's note: The problem was caused by an editing error. The original letter accurately stated that it was singer Paul Williams, not Harold Payne, who offered a testimonial about addiction and sobriety during the event.
