Even as Acres of Books' coming demise in Long Beach becomes more certain, Skylight Books in Los Feliz is becoming the rare independent bookstore to grow these days. On Wednesday night, the store will close early at 7 pm and call on friends and volunteers to move the art, design, and theater sections (and the magazines) down the sidewalk to 1814 Vermont Avenue. The move will make use of carts donated from Vroman's, Dutton's and the Los Feliz branch library. On Thursday at noon, the expanded space will open to customers.
