Last time I was at LAX I wondered aloud, momentarily disoriented, what the big skeleton-like structure was looming over the traffic loop. "Uh, the Theme Building," my companion said, as if I were not a native Angeleno, hadn't seen it hundreds of times, and even done research on architect Paul Williams. D'oh! The structure was stripped down to the bones for repairs, and I have to say I might like it better like this. The LA Weekly's Mark Mauer seems to agree and has a fresh photo essay up at LA Now.
