Caruso's Miramar project gets key OK

If you've been following the saga of the former Miramar resort beside the 101 freeway in Montecito, there's been actual movement you might be interested in. The Montecito planning commission voted 4-1 to approve developer Rick Caruso's plans to build a five-star resort on the site of what used to be a nice little beachfront getaway. The approval opens a 10-day window for appeals to the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors. With that mostly out of the way, maybe Caruso has the time to come back and run for mayor against Villaraigosa. (Don't hold your breath.)
