Delmar Watson came from a family of nine children that supplied kids to the movies — he was in more than 300 during his youth — and later became a photographer and keeper of Hollywood and Los Angeles memorabilia. News photography was in his family. An uncle, George Watson, was the first full-time news photographer hired by the Los Angeles Times, in 1917, and after World War II all six Watson brothers chased stories around town. "The brothers were such infamous pranksters that no newspaper would hire more than one at a time because they feared mayhem would ensue," says today's Times obituary. Watson died Sunday at home in Glendale. Daily News obit, KPCC Off-Ramp tribute from 2007 (the first family of L.A. photography.")
