Jennifer Pendleton, L.A. journalist was 56 *

Business writer Jennifer Pendleton died yesterday after a fifteen-month battle with cancer, according to a friend. Pendleton specialized in advertising, entertainment and entrepreneurship and her work appeared in Fortune, Essence, Good Housekeeping, Entertainment Weekly, Working Woman, Emmy and the Los Angeles Times and on MSNBC.com. Earlier in her career, she was a staff writer at Advertising Age, Variety and the Los Angeles Daily News.

* From last week: John Quincy Adams, longtime editor of the Downey Eagle and the Downey Patriot newspapers, died at age 69.
