Video: Baby L.A. opossum

'Tis the season for babies in the Los Angeles wildlife realm, and thus babies in distress. Mary Cummins, a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and president of Animal Advocates, collected this abandoned joey, or young opossum, from a West Adams neighborhood backyard. She says it will be released after rehabbing.

Baby is doing fine. This is the time of year to find baby wild animals. I just picked up a coyote puppy last night. Lots of skunks, raccoons, squirrels coming in.

Our marsupials are of the Virginia opossum variety. If you need a wildlife rehabilitator, Cummins advises to check here.
