  • The Lakers and Magic square off in the NBA finals at 6 p.m. on ABC.
  • Cardinal Roger Mahony has put up a case of Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels-labeled wines against the Orlando bishop's wager of three key lime pies, four pounds of fresh shrimp and a bottle of oxygen—"– fresh air – that you are unaccustomed to breathing out there in Los Angeles.”
  • Matt “Money” Smith, host of the “Petros & Money Show” on KLAC, talks about the series with Patt Morrison on KPCC at 2 p.m.
  • Actor David Carradine was found hanged in his Thailand hotel room. In March, he was involved in an odd encounter with Haskell Wexler at the Aero Theater. LAT
  • Temple City councilman David Capra was forced to resign from office after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor campaign finance reporting violation and was given 36 months probation. A developer accused Capra and two other officials of demanding bribes in exchange for support of a project. Star-News

  • The City Council approved a seven-story apartment building at La Brea and Willoughby avenues, but not before some argument between members. LAT
